2020–21 WHS Chorus Officer Application
DUE WEDNESDAY 4/29 3:30 PM

The officer application process has been modified as we adjust to our time apart from each other.

These are uncertain times;
yet we must plan on a transition to next year's leadership team after this school year concludes.

Chorus officers are expected to be role models for the population of the vocal & instrumental music program,
and also for the entire student body.

Officers should be highly-motivated student-musicians,
who both desire and accomplish significant musical goals,
including extracurricular performances and auditioning for honor choirs.

They should be willing to go above — not only meet — the standard expectations for choral singers,
AND effectively lead and motivate all members of the WHS choral ensembles.

It is greatly because of the hard work
of our student leaders
that Western Chorus
is a consistently
Superior
program

Please proceed slowly, and answer thoughtfully.
Read each question completely & answer accurately.

You should expect the online application to take at least 10-20 minutes.
There is no way to save and continue. Complete the whole application at the same time.

Later in this application:

* you will need to provide teacher references/recommendations, so please gather their names and contact information now.

* you will need to compose a short answer to the following questions.

I recommend that you type your answers in another app, and then paste them in to the application later.

1. What inspired you to run for a chorus office?
2. How much time can you dedicate to the choral department? What are your other commitments?
3. What character qualities do you possess that will help you become an effective leader for Western Chorus?
4. Explain 2 or 3 ways in which you could help promote, organize, improve, unify, or otherwise contribute (as an officer) to the
Western Chorus.
5. Briefly describe one of your personal weaknesses, although you may be working on it.
6. Give a short history of your choral music experience, including any awards, honors, or special events.
7. Summarize how you intend to further your music studies during your remaining school year(s) at WHS, and also beyond high school.

* you will need to print a parent agreement and have your parent/guardian sign it, and submit it separately.
No student can receive an office position without parent agreement.
